The European long-distance path E4 begins at the Pyr Mountains, crosses the Alps and through Yugoslavia reaches Florina where the Greek part of the path begins. From Florina, the E4 path continues across continental Greece, reaches Gytheio in Peloponesos and from there virtually reaches Kastelli in Crete. From Kastelli it begins and crosses along the whole island of Crete, reaching Zakros in the east where it ends. E4 path gives walkers the opportunity to know the unknown Cretan nature since it meets with old paths, settlements, monasteries and of course the high mountains of Crete.
